Hi
I am currently receiving meds of 40mg Simvastatin for high cholesterol
and Ramipril 7.5mg ACE inhibitor for high blood pressure.
I frequently have brief episodes of palpitations which last a second
or two (too much tea/coffee ?), however since I have been on these
meds I have had (roughly once per month over 4 months) sequences of
palpitations repeating every few seconds over 5 to 10 mins. I caught
one of theseon my blood pressure monitor, each flutter in the chest
corresponding to a missed beat on the monitor. Blood pressure was
normal at 120/80 (before taking the meds bp was around 155/95) and
heart rate 46 bpm with 54bpm berfore and after the squence.
A couple of years ago a nurse thought she detected a double beat which
taking my bp, however a ECG showed normal sinus rhythym.
Are these palpitations significant or just a side effect of the meds.
Would suggest you see a referral to consult with a cardiologist about
your having more frequent palpitations. S/he should be able to
determine the reason for the change in your symptoms.
TIA
You are welcome. All thanks and praises belong to the LORD whom I love
with all my being.
May GOD heal your heart, dear neighbor Paul whom I love
unconditionally.
Prayerfully in Christ's amazing love,
