Re: Proof of LORD Almighty GOD: Those who have been stricken for putting off the Holy Spirit.

It seems to me I heard somewhere that Andrew B. Chung, MD/PhD wrote in

True, if "*below* the most populous city" means "270 miles away from
Tokyo;" the earthquake was farther FROM Tokyo than it was below the
surface.

It remains the right way to describe this earthquake.

If by "right way" you mean something that is absurd on its face. The
earthquake was 270 miles away from Tokyo horizontally and 255 miles away
vertically. Using the magic of science and mathematics, it's easy to
see that is a straight line distance of about 370 miles from Tokyo.

By horizontal distance alone, that would be like an earthquake of
similar magnitude happening beneath Florence, SC or Pensacola, FL.

Throw in the straight line distance of 370 miles and you're talking
about the effects in Atlanta of a 6.0 earthquake near the surface
somewhere out beyond Biloxi (351 miles).

For those less familiar with the Eastern US, that would be like the
effect of a 6.0 earthquake 40 miles north of San Francisco on downtown
Los Angeles; i.e., none. The 7.1 Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 was 60
miles *south* of San Francisco and was not even felt in Los Angeles
although it caused extensive damage in the San Francisco Bay area.

Science and common sense seem to be on my side of the argument (again),
Doctor.
