It's common knowledge.

The use of a "proper newsreader" would tie someone down to the PC/Mac
where Agent is installed with those personal settings concerning
subscribed groups, handle, email address, password, etc. This would
not be good for someone being cyberstalked.

How Agent is installed and configured is up to the user; it can be left
wide open, can be left at the default settings, or buttoned up very
tightly for the paranoid. BTW, aren't you aware that other newsreaders
also have personal settings concerning subscribed groups, handle, email
address, password, etc.?

Agent is being used here in a generic sense to represent an example of
a "proper newsreader" because it was given as the example by Port.

And Agent cannot be used on a Mac, so that's simply another
non-sequitur. OTOH, many Linux users do run Agent as their preferred
proper newsreader.

Actually you probably mean there is no MacOS version of Agent.
