It is interesting to note that much of the Vitamin d deficiency
may be linked to the lack of exposure to sunlight which has been
fostered by the medical community as a protection against skin cancer.
Recently the relationship between melanoma and sun exposure has been
shown to be weak. If you look at the amount of cancers that may have
been caused by this advice; assuming that the results of this study
are verified .If you add in the amount of Heart disease; and many
other conditions previously found. Is it not a fair question to
ask .How wise was it to completely avoid sunlight ; the safest ;most
natural source of Vitamin d. ? Thanks Vince
For the first time, I think, I actually agree with you. Though, I think the
epidemiological studies had already managed the unusual feat of being pretty
conclusive re vit D and cancer.
I also wouldn't put such a heavy blame on the medical profession for missing
the connection for so long and depriving us of sunshine. It wasn't the MDs
who told us to wear clothing, who developed office buildings to work in, who
manufactured cars that took us from place to place outdoors without
sunshine. It wasn't doctors who replaced the custom of kids walking to
school with riding a (smelly, toxic) school bus. It wasn't doctors who kept
our kids inside playing video games instead of running around outdoors.
Etc., etc.
We did this to ourselves.
