Frankly, I'm not that knowledgeable about beta-blockers. My husband
does not have hypertension in the usual sense, only during vigorous
exercise. The cardiologist mentioned several reasons why he was
prescribing the beta-blocker, but I can't reproduce exactly what he
said. I know he mentioned anti-arrythmic effects, among other things.

Everyone's bp goes up during exercise, maybe that's a benefit, since
such exercise tends to improve resting bp. You didn't say your husband
had arrhythmia, or I missed it. I've had significant arrhythmia for
decades, and no one, including cardiologists, has put me on anything.
It's a symptom of something else, not something to be medicated and
unexplored. It's very often endocrine related.

I don't think he has arrhythmia, although the stress test report
mentions "rare-to-occasional atrial and ventricular ectopy during
exercise." However, the cardiologist did mention that effect of beta-
blockers. I'm not sure what he was getting at.

What beta blocker. ?
