That thought occurred to me too, but I really don't know enough about
it to have an opinion.

Vitamins K and magnesium are said to be involved in making sure that calcium
goes to where it's needed and not to where it's not needed for example in
the linings of arteries, and deposits in soft tissues such as breasts.
Both are often fall as we age. Both could contribute to variability of study
results depending on diet sources.
I don't have a handy citation for you, but you can google plenty of
references.
