Nomen,
You need to go read the Blog by Dr Davis, a cardiologist practicing in
Minnesota. The ONLY way you will know if you have arterial plaque is
to get a heart scan and directly measure it. After reading Dr Davis
(who has done 5000 heart procedures), you will be fully up to speed.
You should go into his archives and read from the very first post.
Don't let your doctor tell you you don't need this test- Most docs
don't keep up on the latest technology and there is very little money
to be made from a heart scan.

There is a non-negligible radiation exposure from these scans. The idea of
"tracking" changes in plaque via CT-scans is worrisome to me.
And I'm not convinced that the scan provides much more information beyond
waist-to-hip ratio, a good detailed lipid panel, blood glucose tests, blood
pressure and personal and family history.
