The key for me after being overweight to obese for over 20 years, was
to peruse health. I found that an increasing interest in becoming
healthier automatically lead to reduced calorie foods, smaller

losing weight did indeed prove to be futile.
However when you have progressively bad readings: BMI, blood pressure,
cholesterol (low HDL, high LDL, high trigliserides), blood sugar - in
addition to fatigue, palpitations, backache etc. And you want to
change all that; have good readings and feel good all the time - then
you might be onto something.
My adage is that: When I was living an unhealthy lifestyle and getting
fatter and fatter - getting fat was never a goal, it was a result.
Likewise when I decided to peruse a healthy lifestyle, getting slimmer
and slimmer was not a goal, it was a natural result.
My healthy lifestyle is a natural thing for me now - it is not
something I have to force myself to be rigid about maintaining. It did
take at least a year of unlearning bad habits and slowly adopting good
habits, to get to where I am now.- Hide quoted text -

Sounds like you were self-motivated.
