Lisinopril and cough

My husband started taking Lisinopril, 5mg about 3 weeks ago. It makes
him cough. Nothing awful, just annoying.

Does this side effect get any better with time? worse?

Other than the cough he doesn't seem to have any other problems with
it.

The doctor gave it to him because blood and urine tests indicated that
his kidneys were not functioning up to par.
