Hi All,
I chair the Peer Review committee in my district. I think that all of
this discussion is very good on this newsgroup.
However, it is very important to keep in mind that the audience for
this group is a mixed group of dental and lay people. Discussions of
what is legal in different communities or standard of care in
different communities can have serious consequences for our collegues.
Remember that laws and opinions change, but these postings are
available on the internet for years (ever?). If you do not know what
I mean by that do a vanity search on google (search your own name).
Check the "groups" tab. If you have not done this before you will be
very surprised.
Lawyers have told me that we could be held to our electronically
published word in court. This is why I left this group several years
ago.
Please keep this in mind when you give lay people advice, or when you
ask other dentists for professional advice in this group.
If you must discuss information that may be misinterpreted by the lay
public please do so in a private, moderated dental forum or in private
email.
