Hey Stovie,

If they had a Bloc candidate in my riding I would vote for them. They have a
good leader. Intelligent and sensible. Made a lot of sense during the
debate. Too bad they are only in Quebec.

As for the Liberals, I've had dealings with my local guy that is trying to
get re-elected so he can get his 4th pension at the expense of the
taxpayers. The guy has done squat locally, his office is staffed by ignorant
has-beens that could not keep a job in the private sector. Remember the wage
replacement packages announced for health care workers following the SARS
outbreak? His office said they could not do anything for me when I got
locked out of work at the psych hospital for six weeks last year. I was able
to get wage replacements from the federal government on my own. His office
was not even interested in learning how I got the subsidy when they could
not. Martin has merit, but his local candidate does not deserve the pension.
His office staff needs to understand how it feels to suddenly lose your
wages.

The Conservatives could not get anybody locally so they dropped in someone
from out of town that could not get elected in the last election as a drop
in newcomer there. Harper is planning on reversing the supreme court
decisions on human rights issues. So much for our constitution. Scary stuff.
Add to that, this is the first election for a party that was in reality two
separate parties not too long ago. They barely resolved their own issues in
the last year. No one really knows what they stand for or what they might
do.

The NDP has a reasonable leader, Jack Layton, a local boy. Worth voting for.
This riding was home to both David Lewis and Bob Rae, both NDP biggies. This
shows a history of long time NDP support. Too bad - they too had to drop in
some rookie from out of town whose only platform is the that of the party
itself. You would think a man who states he is a journalist and is gay,
might actually have the balls to say something beyond the basic party
platform. A vote in this direction might help the NDP in a minority
government. I don't know if it would do anything for the riding though.

The Green Party dropped in a 25 year old that works in their Ontario office.
The poor girl has declined to state her platform to just about every media
that has asked. Can't even find a picture of her anywhere.

The Communist Party, has a real winner. I was howling with laughter at her
platform. A $12.00 per hour minimum wage. A 32 hour work week with no
reductions in salary. Scrap NAFTA. " if you want Canadian sovereignty and
democracy - vote communist". All this from an ex auto worker that benefited
from one of the most powerful union locals in North America. I wonder if she
even knows the auto agreement was the precursor to NAFTA. If you want a
real chuckle - check out her streaming video at:

The CPC candidate or whatever fringe party they may have belonged to,
withdrew from the Ballot.

The independent, who held the riding for 3 terms. Decided not to run this
time.(An ex liberal rat packer that was kicked out of caucus by Cretien) He
recently lost the election to become mayor of Toronto last year.

To me a NO VOTE sends a message. Personally I would like to see a NO VOTE
start to carry some more political clout. For example if more people voted
NO, than for any other candidate, a by-election would have to be held for
the riding in say - 60 to 90 days. This would force the candidates and
parties to rethink their position and come up with something that would
please the people.

A NO VOTE indicates that I did actually vote, and I did not like either the
candidates, their platforms or their party. Not voting indicates apathy. A
spoiled ballot indicates ignorance or frustration. Giving a vote to someone
you don't really want or believe in is essentially political prostitution.
And I won't even get paid for getting screwed. Nothing satisfying about
that.

Here we are on the eve of choosing our federal government for the next four
years. No one has knocked on my door, and only 2, possibly 3 flyers have
landed in my mailbox. Like these guys really care.

Maybe I will decide which way to go before the polls close tomorrow night.
If not my NO VOTE is what it will be.

Stepping off the soap box.
