Judging by your description, you did the right thing and your son was well
treated. Remember that Dr. Joel likes to joke around and get people worked
up. His sense of humor is "different". Give your child lots of love and
support and the child should be fine. Ask your pediodontist as to when to
have your child start seeing an orthodontist for periodic evaluations.
Eventually, you will be able to make a series of removable appliances so
your son can eat and speak better. For now, your child will adapt much
faster than you will.
