Maybe yes, maybe no. People can start with games or reading trash.
Many will progress to reading great ideas. This is called education.
It benefits all. Even us.

industry? It began as a little game of course, to see who could
program 2 + 2 = 4.

This is literally true. Bill Gates was into this with his "Basic
Programming" code. CP/M, DOS, PC-DOS, MS-DOS, Dr-DOS (Digital's
version), Windows, Unix, etc.

The operating systems he stole from Digital. Oh wait. He paid $50,000
them for the code. IBM bought it and thought it was Bill's.
