StovePipe,

You are on a subject I will argue with you until forever if I could.
Benzodiazapenes's greatest argument is they are addictive. Perhaps so, but
what do you call the anti-depressants when people remain on them for years and
years. How is that different from being addictive. And in a nursing home
setting, where the people are elderly what difference does it make if they are
addictive and they stay on them if need be. It is very important to know what
harms the majority of residents and in what ways. I maintain that stimulants
do bodily or mental harm from the use of another person on them, to whom
someone develops a mind connection, and that harm is constant whether the two
or more persons are in the same room or miles apart. I don't say this
casually. Perhaps it appears like correlation and effect, but any good and
throrough study would prove it is cause and effect. Fortunately,(or
unfortunately) most of the residents in the nursing homes do not know what
planet they are on, and cannot form friendships. But those that can are at
risk. You cannot imagine how much damage it does. Far outweighing the benefit
to the persons on the anti-depressants. Most people are a victim of the
stimulants rather than the beneficiaries of anti-depressants. You will never
know how many people die from this factor. I am not a sports fan, but David
Garrard, Mike Danton are the recent victims in my judgment. Eisenhauer, Marvin
Bush, etc. etc. Do you really think all these people are developing a
legitimate illness. It resembles more the plague of a past century where an
outside influence was at work. (and stimulants ARE an outside influence.) I
grieve when I see the damage done. Lives are cut short, infections develop
and will not heal, existing medical conditions are exacerbated to a dangerous
degree.
I know all this goes over the head of the average and intellectual mind.
I don't know what class I fall into, but I have lost respect for the Phd and
medical mind that cannot even phantom such a result from stimulants. It is
apparently too well hidden as a cause of dire consequences.

Do you think it more harmful to get addicted to benzodiazapenes (if one does)
which do no harm to anyone else, then to suffer horribly physically and
mentally from the hordes of people on stimulants, one or more of whom we know
and leaves litttle room for escape
When Mike Danton (hockey player I think) said "You don't know how I feel" I
would like to SHOUT, Yes, I do know how you feel, though the world may be
oblivious.
Suffer in silence, why? and this may be egotistic, (not meant to be) but I
pray everyday that the world will know what I know about stimulants.
It would bring a measure of peace to an already distorted world.
May I ask, what is ADHD. I have heard it many times, and apparently many are
adamant about that as I am about stimulants. The tilt of the world is to give
any behavior that does not conform fully to expectation a name and medication
our parents would never dream of. Have we progressed so far as to become a
society that almost needs a medication to function That the function becomes
questionable is moot. I am not talking about the youngsters that show violent
or abusive behavior. Kindness begets kindness most of the time. What are we
doing in our zeal to have conforming children. Will they have an independent,
naturally peaceful existence.
I have nothing against psychiatrists. But to specialize in medication as in
mechanical means only, is barely what I would call a competent MD. Compare
that to an understanding and compassionate person giving one the means to live
a productive and happy life.
Since the psychologist cannot dispense medication, we perhaps should expect
more from them. But in the order of the education, I think we should expect
more from the psychiatrist. But times have changed. and from what I know,
too many people are in distress.
I do not expect agreement, but perhaps one day, there will be the ONE person
that will speak out that stimulants have become a plague in addition to a
blessing they are perceived today.
