Getting a good medical history and psychological profile in cases such
as the op's is not "adding insult to injury", it's determining the best
treatment for the patient.
Most dentists treat patients who are also under psychiatric care.
Knowing how to interact with other clinicians involved in the patient's
care as well as the ability and willingness to make an appropriate
referral is vital to performing optimal clinical care.
