Why I am limiting my private surgical practice
I am limiting my surgical private practice, because it has become too
difficult to maintain an ethical full time private practice. Here is
why:
The expenses of running an office are astronomical. The type of
patients that I treat requires extensive pre and post surgical care
without fee. This is unlike a general dental practice or other
specialty practice such as most oral surgeons or root canal
specialists that can generate a significant fee/hour for their
services. My service is highly specialized and requires much more time
(substantial) and materials. In addition, the malpractice premiums are
tremendous. The bottom line is that many months we are actually in the
red financially due to the high cost of overhead.
We do not use a certain diagnostic device that in my opinion does not
work. This has lost me many referrals since the inventor of this
device has made claims that in my opinion are unsubstantiated and
simply not true. There are dentists performing this surgery based upon
this device which I have found NOT to be reproducible or accurate. In
fact one dentist using this device claimed that he made 1.4 million
dollars last year!! I am not surprised. I know who this dentist is and
I would not let him near me with a scalpel, much less provide an
accurate diagnosis. There are many others like him. This surgery takes
tremendous skill and time to perform correctly.
The American Dental Association continues to deny the existence of the
oral/systemic link. They refuse to acknowledge that a root canal may
make some people sick. Why? In my opinion it is strictly financial.
Also, DENTISTS DO NOT KNOW MEDICINE AND MOST PHYSICANS DO NOT KNOW
DENTISTRY!!!. Also, most alternative practitioners do not know
medicine either, although they claim to and boast degrees from what I
consider uncredible and “ridiculous” universities. Root canals are
probably the most profitable procedure in dentistry. It is interesting
to note that the American Academy of Enodontists refused to be
interviewed for my book and refused invitations to appear with me on
the radio. I am sure you can draw your own conclusions as to why they
refused. In addition, cavitations and other osteonecrotic and
osteomyelitic lesion can cause serious health consequences in some
individuals.
Lawyers. Lawyers are always looking for a target. When you perform
procedures outside the accepted “standard of care” you are an easy
target. There is nobody to back you up. We have extensive consent
forms and always treat our patients like we would treat ourselves, but
that does not matter within the legal system. Justice and truth do not
always prevail even though the research supports what I do.
Dental /medical boards. These boards have the power to destroy you and
do not care about the truth, or in my opinion do not care about the
patient. They have tremendous power.
I have been physically threatened with bodily harm. I cannot proceed
within such hostile and threatening environment.
These are just some of the reasons that I am limiting my private
practice. Let me just give one word of advice to those seeking this
type of care: Be VERY, VERY careful who you go to!!!!
Thank-you
