Re: Diagnodent Accuracy?

If you find the problem before the dentist does, the dentist is not doing
his job very well. The point of getting regular check-up examinations is to
find things BEFORE they hurt. I would suggest getting the tooth which is
over 50 filled soon. If the others are still in the 30's, I would probably
watch them for a few more months then re-check with the DIAGNOdent.

The pits being checked by this device are an area which was always in
dispute in dentistry. Some dentist would advocate opening these areas out
(tiny preparations) to check for decay. Others would just want to have
sealants placed. The DIAGNOdent is one new tool to help with the confusion.
Every tooth have ever treated that had a pit with a number over 45, had more
decay inside it than I would have imagined. This machine truly finds early
decay, often before it can be seen on digitally enhanced x-ray images.

Please feel free to get a second opinion, but I would suggest finding an
office with uses the DIAGNOdent, so you are actually getting an opinion on
the same level of knowledge.
