Thanks everyone for your helpful posts.
Actually the tooth is a tiny bit loose and I can actually hear it squeak
when I rock it! However it is now painless (thank heavens)and I'm eating
even hard stuff on it.
Looks like there is the usual debate here between people who lean to the
more conservative treatment options and those who suggest jump-right in with
an implant.
I think my dentist likes implants ...
Wonder how long it will last without any trouble if I just leave it...
