Who said you need "vertical dimension"? You have one already, everyone does. I'm
guessing someone said you need to change yours.
The one that "bailed" did you both a favour. They recognized early they can't
provide what you need or what you want.
What made you feel uncomfortable with the 3rd individual. Did you not like them
or the suggested treatment?
You should have to pay for more than a consult to get the answers you need/want.
A consult usually does not include a full exam, diagnosis, treatment plan and
case presentation. I've seen one prostho I work with spend numerous hours just
planning a full mouth work up.
A consult is only a quick look to see what your problem is and if you might
benefit from treatment at a particular office.
If you tell them ahead of time that you have a lot of questions and would like
to pay for the extra time needed, they will usually schedule accordingly.
Where in the great white north are you?

| help! i need vertical dimension in order to gain a proper bite. am 54.
| problem is...12 old existing crowns and some lost tooth structure due
| to reflux. to date: 3 prosodontists, one bailed out for full mouth,
| the other insists on orthodontics first and the other i didn't feel
| comfortable with. i know new crowns means losing tooth structure and
| the risk of orthodontics is fracture of the thin teeth, relapse and gum
| problems and time-am not getting any older. i have so many questions
| and professionals will not take the time even at $200 per hour for
| consults...i'd gladly pay in order to be to make an informed decision.
| any comments or personal experience would be appreciated. thanks.
