Open beaks extraction

I just came back from Bangalore in India, where a PG student on the MDS
course told me about the open beaks extraction method.

There was a situation where a heavily carious UR6 broke.
I managed to get the crown , MB, and DB roots out.

The PG student then told me to reflect a bit of the palatal mucosa, and then
place one of the beaks into the DB socket and the other on the palatal bone
just outside the socket, and then squeeze.

As I did so the palatlal root poped out. I was impressed.

However I can find much on this technique. In the UK, when palatal root
breaks and its not that nr to the sinus, then we use luxators to expand bone
and break PDL fibres and rotational forces to get the root to surface.

Can anyone enlighten me further?

Thanks!!
