How long do crowns last?

My teeth are in bad shape. 2 of my molars have cracked and beyond
repair. One of my molars have a small chip but I think it could be
repaired by putting a crown on it. I feel like my molars are chipping
so easily I don't have the confidence to eat nuts and such. The
solution is to talk to the dentist of course, but I'd like to see what
you guys here think first. There's nothing wrong with having options.
I'm only 35 years old. With the rate I'm losing molars, there wouldn't
be any left when I'm 50! I do brush twice a day.
Does it make sense to crown the rest of my molars? Just the ones which
does the chewing. Maybe 6 molars on top and 4 on the bottom (2 on the
bottom jaw is lost). Is this a good idea? How long do crowns last?
I'm also considering braces. Does it matter which one I do first?
