MY TAKE:
Well placed restorations are quite effective. An exception is when the
decay has undermined the enamel and UNSUPPORTED tooth structure
remains. This will frequently chip off months or years later. I
particularly like Steve Mancuso's CAD-CAM "Cerec" solutions.
You need a comprehensive exam, x-rays, plus some dental opinions. Why
not make some snapshots of your teeth (with small mirrors and a digital
camera) and try to snag your x-rays?
If you can do that they can be posted at DentalCom.net, or elsewhere
and many can view them and give you opinions.
