The back-up needs to have dental.log and dental.db
Any reasonable back-up software will work to copy the files. The database
generator needs to be stopped prior to running the back-up. AFAIK there is
no way to remotely stop the database generator and re-start it again.
Personally, I prefer to have the database generator stopped when I am not in
the office anyway. If I need to look at the schedule, I have it on my palm
pilot.
Any extra files left active after the database generator have not been a
problem in the preceding 7 years of using it. I don't see the issue.
Backing up to CD is a long process which you will not be able to do once you
start generating clinical records. Get a tape drive, it is much faster and
easier.
