Justin, Bill, Joel et al (and SMD),

I have to admit that I do not understand how this gateway works. Do
the SMD people see something different than we do here (as far as the
format architecture?)

I came off vacation to see all of these new posters. I thought it was
wonderful. However I do not entirely understand the effects this
gateway has had on their discussion group.

It seems the main complaint is that this has forced a more open
internet exposure for a group of people who had a more private
newsgroup setting. It has also acted as an invitation to "old" posters
of that newsgroup that had once been "troublemakers" there and kindly
"washed" out.

I think I understand their frustration now after digesting it a bit. I
really do not want to ruin anybody else's group. In the same token, I
selfishly hope this works out because I really like seeing all of the
new voices.

However I am happy to go along with whatever decisions are made. I
was thankful for having our little group as well.
