You would be amazed how easily a staff person can cash your insurance and
patient checks into her own account. You would be amazed at how much can
disappear from the office in supplies. You would be amazed to find your
staff recommending patients go down the street to see someone else when you
are not around.

Buy a time clock and have everyone "clock-in" and "out" each day.
Otherwise, you have to personally initial their time sheets for every "in"
and "out". An alternative would be for you to be the first one in the
office each day and the last one out each afternoon. Personally keep a log
of what time each employee is ready for work and compare it to what they are
reporting.

CHANGE THE LOCKS NOW ! You open the front doors before they get there,
and they will not even notice (unless they are playing games). You lock up
after they leave. If they notice, tell them that you think your office key
was lost or stolen, so you had the locks changed as a precaution, and have
not had time to make copies of the keys for them yet. Since you are not
certain if they are going to get keys, you have not made copies for them
yet, so no lies told.

There are plenty of very nice software packages on the market which will run
payroll for you. Some even have provisions for a "time-clock" feature. Use
it !

I hate to ask, but who pays the bills in your office (has control of the
check book) ?
