You say that your surgeon "is around only once a month." Since surgery
commonly involves the need for post-operative visits, it is the
surgeon's responsibility to take care of any problems that crop up in
the postsurgical period.

The surgeon can either answer your call himself and take care of your
needs, or he can arrange for another dentist to attend to any surgical
sequelae. Either way, it is the surgeon's responsibility to arrange for
postsurgical care.

Often the surgeon wonders why you haven't called yet. Have you called
him?
