Hey, Joel. Did you see my previous inquiry about a scanner being
developed in Japan that can get a dental impression without using the
normal methods. I am the one that can't get my mouth open far enough
for an impression. Have you looked into an alternative means to get an
impressions? I am 58 yrs old. Am I to spend the rest of my life eating
that soup, mashed potatoes and applesauce?

Also, to the twit that says that one should not look for a
minority/female dentist or physician.....good thing you don't live near
me or I'd give you good reason for needing dentures. Moron.

The only analogous technology in dentistry I'm aware of is CEREC, in which a tooth is prepared for a restoration, scanned, and a ceramic restoration is fabricated with the scanned image.
This is a great concept, but still you'd have to be able to get a good scanned image of the oral tissues. I don't know enough about optics to know if this could be done with one or even several small optical sensors. If it requires a relatively large scanner it could be a problem for someone with limited opening.
Still, this would be a very exciting technology.
