I am 22 and have been noticing some gum recession. I have cerebral palsy
and often shake whenever I brush my teeth, and I think this is the main
cause of the recession. I was at the dentist a few months ago for
something unrelated and I asked him about it. He looked and didn't seem
too worried about it. Should I be concerned? It looks to be only on my
front teeth.
Thanks.

In young people, a certain amount of what we call "passive eruption" takes
place, so the gumline moves somewhat. This is not abnormal. I'm inclined
to think if your dentist isn't concerned you shouldn't be either.

Thanks. I had one dentist concerned about it, but my new dentist pretty much
just noted it and didn't say much more about it so I took that as he wasn't
too worried about it.
