Re: Advanced Payment Question

Thanks!

As Steve wrote, there is no standard practice, but this is something I
have
seen or heard about more often. I can't say why your dentist changed his
policy, but it makes things a lot easier for the dentist.

The patient is the customer. If the dentist wants cash up front he should
give a 20% discount.

The old way, doctor would have to wait until insurance company paid, which
may take months then send you a bill, which may take weeks or months get
paid. This means the office has to wait a long time to get paid for
services
rendered.

Boo Hoo I don't see any dentists starving or going out of business.

Being a finance company is a pain in the neck...requiring a lot of
paperwork and patience, which is why most people that do extend such
credit
ask for interest when doing so.

So add interest. 1% a month.

In your case, it would seem that it would have been nicer for the office
to
grandfather in this new policy as not to offend old reliable patients, but
try to see it from the dentists point of view. Not everyone is as
responsible as you, making the old policy a lot more work for the dental
office.

Who cares. Everyone has problems in business why should a dentist be any
exception.

I'd explain to the office your feelings. If you like the dentist, you may
regret leaving because of this.
