Re: Advanced Payment Question

I'll definitely let everyone know what happens when I bring this up
after my upcoming appointment. I've been thinking back to my most
recent visits - my insurance pays for 6 month checks, xrays once a
year, etc.. This year he has been on a campaign to replace all old
fillings. I know two other patients who have told me they were
approached as well. I'm sure my old fillings will all eventually
need to be replaced, and I've already had some replaced when he
finds problems. I'm sure this is a topic for another thread, but I
started to lose confidence in him when he suggested replacing 5 all at
once, which would require numbing left, right, top, bottom of my mouth
in one visit.

Call me old fashioned, but that just doesn't seem like a good idea to
me. When I brought that up to him, he brushed off the concern. I only
agreed to let him replace two that were in the area where I had chip
off a tooth that needed fixing anyway. The office manager keeps
asking when I want to 'take care of the other needed work'. I had
asked the dentist if the remaining 3 were in bad shape, and he said
no, but they will need replacing sometime, and it would be cheaper to
do it now while I had met my deductible.

Anyway, this may explain why it wouldn't bother me to leave this
practice. As I've said, I've gone to this office for 15 years, but
they seem to be changing their ways in a manner I'm not comfortable
with.
