I had an infected root in my tooth and needed a root canal. After the
novacaine wore off, I had extreme pain in my tooth where touching and
eating (on the other side) increased the pain. I can't eat food
without it hurting. I have also taken Tylenol #3 and Oxycodone to
relieve the pain but they both don't completely take it away.
I had a root canal before this and I had no pain. Is this just
"normal" or should I go back to the dentist?
Not enough information, but if this is just a day or two from the
procedure, it *may* settle down soon.
A root canal deals with problems inside the tooth. It does not
immediately cure problems in the tissues surrounding the tooth.
Certainly contact your dentist to discuss your problems.
