Amalgam is simply disappearing as fewer and fewer people want it. I used to
buy 2-3 thousand spills of it each year. Now, I buy less than 50 each year.
You will have a tougher time finding it here in the USA as well.
My CEREC machine is designed and built in Germany. German dentists are a
big part of the Academy of Computerized Dentistry. I suspect you simply hit
a small pocket in Germany where digital radiography is scarcer.
Like anywhere else in the world (including here), you can find dentists who
do less than optimal work. But, no more likely to find poor quality in
Germany--based on what I have seen. I would be more concerned with PHS
offices in the UK. As they get so accustomed to doing a 45 minute job in 9
minutes, that they may have a tough time taking their time to do it right
when the patient can afford it. Private dental offices in the UK should be
fine.

Thanks. I wondered because they don't seem to use amalgam for
fillings, maybe some kind of environmental regulation. None seem to
use digital x-rays or gas, either. (I really miss the gas.)
