The traditional way would be to make an impression of the model (just as an impression of the natural teeth would be) and pour it up in dental stone.
Now CAD-CAM technology is coming into dentistry--models can be copied, manipulated, etc. with optical scans and milling, as is done in Invisalign orthodontic technology.
