LOL...good guess, that's who just took out #2! Nope, hint: rye bread.

Blankenstein were classmates of mine. There was a story in New York magazine a couple of years back about how saving the life of a pedestrian mowed down by a hit-and-run driver on Park Avenue changed his life. He was in my car pool. ;-)
Rye bread? With seeds?

Update: I went to general dentist and he numbed me, put in the gutta
percha, took an x-ray and the stick stopped right where the abscess
is, way down close to the tooth so it is a periodontal after all. It
went nowhere near the canal. The canals looked fine on x-ray. So, this
is like last time. My choice now is to open it again, look for a crack
that may not even show and live with this until next time, which may
or may not happen, or extract it. I have all of the x-rays and a
consultation on Wednesday...I don't like to mention names on here, but
it's with the best known team here who every dentist refers to, I
believe you said you know them, Steve. So I feel very confident (they
did 2 extractions on me years ago and I trust them lots). I'll see
what he says, also of course will talk to him about the wisdom tooth,
which I am trying to not think about since I am still healing from my
extraction last week + this darn abscess...what a way to start 2009.
Thanks for the tip on the monodont, I'll check into it. I don't want
to look like a jack-o-lantern...but then I always wanted to be a
hillbilly, can take my fiddle, get some overalls and a corncob
pipe....

It just burst open, finally. I'm rinsing with more salt water and
going to sleep. If when I go to the dentist, it's sealed up, can he
still, if he chooses to, track the infection with the gutta percha...I
mean can he pierce it where he sees the opening, is that what anyone
here would do? I'll get an x-ray tomorrow and he'll refer me to the
appropriate specialist. One more question, if they have to pull it, do
they give you something to clip on until they can make a bridge? I
would hate to walk around missing a canine tooth, it would look
horrible. Thanks so much for helping me through this day. This hasn't
been a good week. Toothless in Seattle
It should be possible to trace the infection or at least have a decent
idea of the source.
There are temporary replacements for extracted teeth. Most common is
referred to colloquially as a "flipper". Another option is called a
monodont (developed by Maris Lans, who used to be an active participant
in this ng):
