So CRP is not elevated in lymphoma?
I will explain my situation:
I am 33 and male. In December of 2003, I weighted about 210. I got a
case of the flue and it knocked me in bed for about 5 days. After this
was over, I started eating a low carbohydrate diet. I noticed about 2
or three months after that that I developed a fever, got cold and had
aches and chills just like the flu. It would come on suddenly and last
about a day. The next day I would feel fine. This would happen every
three to 4 months. I really just though my system was figting a bug or
something.
It happened again two weeks ago and I went to the doctor. They did a
cbc tested me for hiv, rocky mountain spotted fever, epstein bar
virus, cytomegalo virus. It all came back negative with the exception of
my c reactive protein which was very high, it was 54 with 0 to 4 being
normal. My percentage of lympochtes were a little low and my
granuocytes were a little high. My white count was 9.8 which was in the
normal range but I guess the high side of normal. This was on a
Thursday. The following Monday (this past Monday) I saw an infectious
disease doctor. I still had a fever when she checked me of 99.7. She
took blood and did another crp and also checked for histoplasmosis. The
crp was now normal at 1.1. (The hysto has not come back yet.)
She immediately said because of my age she was worried about lympoma. I
am scheduled for a gallium scan on Monday. The other thing that bothers
me is I have been off that diet for sometime now and I still seem to be
losing weight. I weighted 173 or so at my mom's today. To be fair I
have not ate much this week because I am worried about all this but
that is alot of weight.
This is what the cbc looks like:
Patient Limits 3
Wbc 9.8 x10^3/uL 4.5-10.5
LY 14.1 L % 20.5-51.1
MO 2.7 3 % 1.7-9.3
GR 83.2 3H % 42.2-75.2
LY# 1.4 x10^3/UL 1.2-3.4
MO# 0.3 3 x10^3/uL 0.1-0.6
GR# 8.2 3H x10^3/uL 1.4-6.5
RBC 4.78 x10^6/uL 4.0-6.0
Hgb 14.1 g/dl 11.0-18.0
Hct 42.1 % 35.0-60.0
MCV 87.9 fl 80.0-99.9
MCH 29.5 pg 27.0-31.0
MCHC 33.5 g/dl 33.0-37.0
RDW 13.7 % 11.6-13.7
PLT 171 x10^3/uL 150-450
MPV 7.9 fL 7.8-11.0
Any help is appreciated!
