Hi Brian,
I was just recently diagnosed with the same thing. I have four nodules, and
am supposed to repeat the CT every three months. After researching this, I
have come to the conclusion that they are usually benign, and can be caused
by many different things. They also checked me for TB and Histoplasmosis,
both of which can cause them, but both were negative. The pulmonologist told
me that they need to redo the scan every three months, for two years. As long
as they don't continue to get bigger, they will not bother with them anymore.
I am not worried about them at all. do yourself a favor and stop worrying
until there is something to worry about. The stress you are putting yourself
under is much worse for your health. Stress eats your body alive.
And if you're wondering, I am a still smoker, of 30 years, a pack a day. I
had a series of lung function tests and the spirometry results say I have the
lungs of a 32 year old, and I'm 49. My primary care doctor also said my lungs
sound as good as most non-smokers. I have recently started taking the anti-
oxidant Glutathione tripeptide, to neutralize the free radicals caused by
smoking. Other than that, I'm not worried.
