Rutgers researchers found that the curry spice turmeric (curcumin)
holds real potential for both the treatment and prevention of prostate
cancer, particularly when combined with phenethyl isothiocyanate

cruciferous vegetables including watercress, cabbage, winter cress,
broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, cauliflower, kohlrabi and turnips.
Using immunodeficient mice, these were the first prostate cancer
experiments to be performed in vivo with curcumin and PEITC.
ScienceDaily: Curry And Cauliflower Could Halt Prostate Cancer

Researchers have isolated compounds from the vegetable broccoli that
they believe may help prevent or slow the progress of bladder cancer.
The current work builds on a major study conducted six years ago by
Harvard and Ohio State universities that found men who ate two or more
half-cup servings of broccoli per week had a 44 percent lower incidence
of bladder cancer compared to men who ate less than one serving each
week.

This is ridiculous. People should eat their damn broccoli, ginger and
curry (I draw the line at cauliflower, I think its disgusting) and they
_might_ not get bowel/bladder/prostate cancer. A prophylactic effect is
possible. But to go and extract the stuff from foodstuffs and feed it to
people who already have cancer is.. well, pointless.
