CEA had bgn rising from 2.5 to 12 overa two month period. They added
avastin to my foldox/oxi regime and it backed off to 8.50 last month.
They checked it again today but won't have results till next week. I've
been having some very unpleasant side effects from the avastin but if
it's knocking the CEA down I guess I'll keep plugging. I've never had
the CA-19 checked. how does that stack up against the CEA for
reliability.
Stage 4 colon cancer mucusal and signet ring cell with mets to omentum
and peritonium , diagnosed 12/22/05, debulked 12/23/05 started folfox7
chemo w/oxiliplatin 1/14/06.
With that history, recurrence is pretty well inevitable. The rising CEA
suggests it has happened.
If you have no symptoms, you need no treatment. I'd stop having tests
until/unless you do have symptoms
.
