Don't know what they pay where you are but docs in fla. would scoff at
100-200k Youcan't buy fancy homes on the wtare or on the golf corse and
buy a luxury vehicle for every family member that drives, own horses
boats and a couple of vacation homes on that kind of money. Even a 2
bedroom dump is 200k here. Yes the HOMs pay is less than docs can earn
in private practice. But they aint doing bad.Their offices alone here
look like they belong in a better homes mag. Fla. is filled with retired
folks with money and good ins. policies, docs do quite well here. I
agree that considerin the schooling required and the gours they keep
they deserve to be paid well but keepin mind the president of our
country is only paid 200k a year in salary, not that he needs the money
but I don't think they deserve to be paid as much as they earn.
Maybe they do a better job than him?
And yes
they do require you to sign waivers absolving them of any liability
before they will treat you
That's nonsense, even in the US. The waiver says that they have explained
the treatment and all the possible dangers. AND YOU ACCEPT them. No consent
form protects the physisician if he/she is incompetent/unethical.
and yes they wan to know every source of
money you have and at least one relative they can go after if you don't
pay up. It used to be a oble job and maybe itstill is where you are but
here it's all about the $$$. There is a shortage of nurses because
theydo all the sh@t work, put in more hours than the docs, are at your
bedside dealing with your illness and putting up with your crap
(litteraly), working double shifts and holidays while the doc is out
playing golf or skiing at lake tahoe yet the docs get all the money and
the credit for doing what? writing a prescription? It's always been
that way in america for the rich, someone else does all the work and
harvard boy gets all the credit and the money. I have a great respect
and admiration for nurses and techs and have foun that most of the time
I can get more straight and honest answers from them than the docs.
Doctors know what the books say should happen but the nurses and techs
actually see what happens every day., not only do they take all the crap
from patients but they also get regular rations of crap from the docs
and they are in my opinion very much underpaid, unappreciated and
underrated. That is why their is a shortage of nurses. Maybe their
woudn't be a shortage if the docs started getting off their asses, doing
some of the grunt work and saying thank you once in a while. My onc was
forever berating her staff and downtalking them. Last month they all
quit and now she is in a bind and losing patients. She'll get over it
cause someone will be stupid enough to take the jobs and life goes on
but I thought it was refreshing to see some crap coming back to roost on
the crapper.
They don't even have the decency to make rounds in the hospitals here
anymore to check on their patients. They have hospital quasi docs that
pop their head in the door for ten seconds and then report to your doc.
The only real docs you see in the hospitals here are the ones that roam
the halls, stick their heads in the door (litteraly) and then bill your
ns. company for a consult They think it's just a money fountain for
their enjoyment. Best one I ever gotwas the doc that walked in my room,
opened the closet door, when I asked what he wanted he said he was
looking for equipment. When I got the printoutfrom the hospital his ame
was on the bill for a consult.
Sue away, I'm sure you'll feel better
