Well CEA went from 12 in oct to 18 in nov. and now shot up to 47 in 30
days so something has took root and took off to the races now. Still
nothing showing in any scans of lungs, abdomen or pelvis except that
1.26 node in the lung which they say is nothing. My primary doc wants
me to go to shands for cyberknife on it and then see if CEA drops. Does
this sound adviseable? Don't know much about cyberknife, how does it
work and can it get a node in the retrocrural area. Onc says I got one
more line of treatment available which is folfiri w/ erbitux and then
says to give up. I asked about clinical trials and he says I could try
but he's too busy to help find one so I'd have to find it on my own. I
looked on a couple of websites that list them and there are tons of
them out there. I'll never be able to sort through them and make any
sort of informed decsion. They use terminology I don't understand and
the few I called wouldn't talk to me because I'm not a doctor so looks
like I won't get a clinical trial.
I think the chances that your lung nodule represents the only disease are
very, very small indeed, and so cyberknife would not seem to me to be a very
useful option
.
