Re: cytoreductive surgery (Steph)

Your initial statement was not worded that it was your opinion Steph,
you stated it as if it were fact. if you had said "in my opinion" I
would have taken it as just that. when you state something as if it is
fact and it is contradictory to the facts that the doctor I am dealing
with has presented me with which I provided you a link to, then I am
obligated to ask you on what do you base that statement, post
coroberating evidence to back it up.. Or as you say show me trials, show
me proof of what you say. In the future if you are making a statement as
an opinion only you should let it be known that it is only your opinion
and not scientific fact. This is not a procedure to be taken lightly, it
is long in both duration and recovery, a distance for me to travel and
quite risky being under anesthesia for 12 hours or more. so If you have
some valid argument other than just your own opinion against it or that
it truly is not of any medical value, then I'd like to hear it
otherwise you're just flappin your gums. All I've seen you say so far is
everyone else has to show you proof of anything they come up with but
you can say whatever you please and are not required to show any
science to back your statements. Ever heard what's good for the goose is
good for the gander?

I have no desire to put my body under such stress unles I am fairly well
convinced that there is merit to it and at least a possibility of
extending my time on this earth. It doesn't seem fair to me that I had
49 years to screw up and 1 or 2 if I'm lucky to make it right but then
who ever said life was fair. I'd like to extend that time as much as
possible, come to know My God and his son as much as I can and hopefully
try and make right as many wrongs as I can. It's not that I'm greedy for
life and hanging on tooth and nail, just that the more time I have to
set right the mess I made the more in peace I can be in when it is my
time and more people who will have at least some good memories of me
instead of all bad. I'd also be honored to have won a soul or two for my
lord before I go if I can possibly do so. I'm certainly not a mass
murderer of oncologists just itching to get some information about you
so I can bump you off. that's a pretty poor thing for a doctor to say.
Be proud of what you do. You studied hard to get there, doctors save
lives as much as is humanly possible to do given our limited knowledge
of things. Doctors here are easily found on the internet. I've seen
pictures of, read the resumes of and researched the background of nearly
every doctor that I've dealt with so that I know beforehand that I'm
dealing with a competent person. There is no reason for you to hide your
identity although I respect your right to do so. I gave you a link to
facts justifying the procedure and will provide more if you ask. If you
want to know who I am I'll gladly email you all my contact info,
That's the last I have to say to you about it unless you have something
concrete to share. If anyone else has any opinions or facts about this
procedure that they' like to share I'd love to hear them.

Merry Christmas,
Jonboy

IP chemo, especially heated, is quite toxic, and the chemo only
penetrates a few cells of thickness. It is of absolutely no proven value
in colon cancer

That is peculiar Steph, Seems everytime I see someone make a post about
something they feel may help, You guys jump on them harping the same
thing. Show us trials, show us proof, yet you offer none to back your
statement. The doctor who wrote the articles I referred you is by the
way is the one I have selected to do the procedure if it is to be done.
He posts his picture and complete resume right on the internet for
anyone who wishes to review. I did propose that you email me off list
with credentials if you were uderstandibly reluctant to post them here.
If I were to desire to come to Canada and hire you as my doctor, how
then would I be able to see your qualifications other than a physical
visit to your office? I'm not saying you aren't qualified and do not
doubt you are both a knowledgeable man and proficient doctor. I'm simply
asking for documentation to back your opinion that this treatment is of
no value and a way to know that you are qualfied to make that statement
and not just another joe shmo like myself who uses google to answer most
of my questions
You couldn't hire me if you came to Canada..........physicians here are
not
for hire.
I'm sure your man is first class, but he's the one suggesting doing
something to you, so the onus is on him to provide the evidence. In
medicine, if you can't provide good evidence, the treatment is
experimental. How you expect me to have evidence of a negative, that
something doesn't work, is beyond me.........
For what it's worth, I have specialist fellowships (board certifications
to the Americans) in internal medicine, clinical oncology, and radiation
oncology, and I'm an assistant professor in the Dept of Surgery at UBC,
and the Dept of Medicine at UVic.
Of course, I could be making it all up.... that's the beauty of the
internet. You might be a mass murderer of oncologists just itching to
get some information about me so you can bump me off..........
You don't have to believe anything I say, but if you come here to ask
opinions and you get them, simply ignore them if they are unpalatable to
you.
