Does this kind of thing take that long in the U.S.?

Mabida, how long does it take for the pathology report to come back?
Everything I have read says a couple weeks?

Unless the lab is backed up, path reports are usually available within a
week. It depends a bit on the processing which has to be done on the tissue.
Yep, a week seems to be fairly typical all over the world..
