Tragic death of hundredth British solidier - the troops must be brought home

George Galloway this morning expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family
of the hundredth British soldier to die in Iraq.

"Our hearts go out to the family of the hundredth British soldier to die in
Iraq," said Galloway, the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow. "These one hundred
deaths are the all too predictable consequences of the illegal and immoral war
in Iraq. I don't want another British soldier to die occupying other people's
countries. That's why all British troops must be brought home now from Iraq and
from Afghanistan and there must be an end to the threat of action against Iran."

"The full disastrous consequences of the British government's war in Iraq have
now been brought home by the death of the hundredth British soldier," said
Respect National Secretary John Rees. "This underlines in the most tragic way
the foolishness of the current threats against Iran and the imbecility of
committing another 3,500 troops to Afghanistan."

Respect will be joining the protest called by Stop The War Coalition, 5pm in
Parliament Square tonight. Further protests will follow in other city centres
across Britain tomorrow night.
