While War Wages, Women Wage Peace

As we begin to get into the full swing of 2006, I can't help but
think that for many women around the world, the New Year is
filled with hope of lasting peace.
In our column this week, Zainab Salbi of Women for Women
International writes about her recent trip to Sudan. In the
North African country, war has raged for over three decades; and
where there is peace, life without clean water or a roof over
one's head is a simple fact of life. Read her story at

But Sudanese women are making a huge difference. Zainab
discovered that just below the media's radar there is a strong
women's movement that is building peace, sustainability and a
future in the country.
Please read about Zainab's journey and take a minute to write a
letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Help us raise
awareness in your hometown about Sudanese women's work and how
we can help. http://ga4.org/ct/LdSVzaK1aROt/
Then click over to our solutions section at
http://ga4.org/ct/L1SVzaK1aRO5/ where women tell their stories
about the changes they're making to end violence throughout the
world.

Can't you see we're still here,
Singing loud; Singing clear,
We shall not go under,
We're still here."
