if i may ask how did telling your doctor you got it from iv drug use affect
you. I have hep C from the same thing. though i've never mentioned to my
new doctor how i got it i've often wondered if i should.

Max,
What you want is a test for hepatitis c. It is a blood test.
Don't even bother asking for liver function tests. If it turns out that
you have hep c, then you can get further testing, but right now you just
want to know whether or not you have it.
You do NOT have to tell your doctor why you think you might have it. If he
asks, say that you got a tattoo or a piercing or something back in the day
and you're concerned. If you think you may have got hep C from i.v. drug
sharing, do NOT disclose this to your doc or anyone else. I made that
mistake and it's haunted me for the past 20 years (of which I've been
clean).
Jason, your advice isn't too *** hot.

See your doctor and request a liver function blood test and special tests
for hepatitis. Tell your doctor why you think you may have it. You do not
need to post that info. in a newsgroup unless you want to do it.
Jason
