My Liver Doc is an Internal Med specialist, concentrating in the field of
the mighty Liver. Otoh, in the small town that I live, my personal doc (the
one that picked up the diagonsis through follow ups on routine medical exam
results) was not at all familiar personally with treating the virus. He
referred my case quickly to one of the regional liver clinics, with
attending specialists.

Gastro's are specialists of the digestive system, from the esophogus all
the way out to your anus. :-) Since the liver plays a large role in
digestion (bile production), it's considered part of the gastro's
domain. Make sense now?
