What's important is that Justice is looking at Merck for ciminal
behavior under health care statutes. Not RICO. OK, so she got the most
applicable laws wrong. Her point was that the corporate screwing
around with the FDA to get Lymerix to the market was criminal.
My understanding of what she charged: 1.The animal studies of the
vaccine's
effectiveness were marginal at best. 2. The revision of the WB Igg
criteria
made the test useless (and they knew it) 3. The autoimmmune respose to
the vaccine was resonably predictable based on Steere's work. So they
made a bunch
of people sick, and left tons more undiagnosed so they could recover
their
investment. Criminal? You know what, maybe.
Vioxx killed almost 9 times as many people as the 911 events. 9
fucking times
911 to get people to pay attention to what is argueably criminal
negligence.
That's how powerful Corporate America has become; 28,000 deaths to get
some attention....We are so buried in corporate culture, so blind to
their almost
total dominance, we can't think straight anymore.
