It is the final line that Frank interprets as a "threat of
assasination" or a "call for his assasination."

He considers this to be a crime.

Of course he also considers defamation to be a crime which it is NOT
(it is a civil cause of action, a "tort" but not a crime--if it
occurs, though please note that truth is not defamatory, nor is mere
name calling, and the legal requirements of a defamation case are
rigorous and include damages).

However Frank has an evolving view of the law.

He previously took the position that his writing that "Allen Steere
has been scheduled for termination" was NOT a threat of assasination
nor a call for his assasination but rather was a reference to his job
status.

Of course this is absurd bull*** as Frank had no idea of Allen
Steere's job status, this was just a retroactive and transparent
attempt to cover his tracks and try to minimize the incredible damage
he did to all of Lymeland by issuing this threat which then was
published in the NY TImes magazine article "Stalking Dr Steere"

But what is interesting is frank's rationale at the time and on other
threads discussing what he thought were and were not "threats."

So let's take a walk down memmory lane with a few of frank's greatest
hits in which he discusses his views of the law. Later on this thread
I'm going to provide a few more of frank's greatest hits, and a few
revealing searches, frank using the word "kill" "threat" "death" and
the c word and f words. Frank has repeatedly threatened violence
towards people, applauded terrorists and their actions, expressed his
admiration for Osama Bin Laden, the attacks of 9/11, his hatred for
the US.

Unfortunately, I will never come to the US.

Next time someone writes an article saying that Lyme patients are

Hi Frank! Terroristic threats and harassment have long been a crime in
this country. Free speech has its limits.

The question isn't whether I take this threat seriously or not. I
don't. I think Lyme patients are pretty much all talk no action. But I
know them. Too well.

The point is that this represents the community poorly and can easily
be taken out of context and used to smear all Lyme patients just as
the statements that you made about killing dr steere were in fact used
to make all Lyme patients look bad.

Why give ammunition to people who disagree with you?

In this case the title of the thread was "Dattwyler should be killed."
It might be fair to take the content of the post as venting. But the
title is the title. And it could easily be used for someone's purposes
to make Lyme patients look bad just as your statement about dr steere
which I assume was not serious but was venting your emotions was taken
to make all Lyme patients look bad in the New York Times Magazine
which is read all over the entire world.

Maybe not your proudest moment?

What you are allowed to say and what not can be tricky.
For example, if I would say to you: "I am going to hurt your kids",
you can
let me be arrested and I am in a world of trouble.

If I say: "I have been following you and your kids, I know where you

have a knife, I am a trained killer", there is absolutely nothing to
be
done, legally. It is not a threat and it is not (yet) stalking. If you
would
not take great care with exactly how to voice a counter-threat, you
yourself
would be in for arrest/fine etc.

Laws are different per country though. In the US it's perfectly legal
to
summarily execute anyone who enters your home uninvited., regardless
whether
he's armed or however apologetic.

In the Netherlands, this will get you into deep trouble.

Libel and Slander laws are even weirder. It's not allowed to say
untrue
things about people, except when you can prove that what you say is
true,
BUT there are catches, when you divulge true facts about a person with
malicious intent, you can still be held accountable legally, in some
countries and some cases.

This is why you should always be on the safe side and use "Freedom of
expression", always say that it is "your opinion" and if possible,
give
reasons. You might think that implicitly stating that it is your
opinion is
an extra legal risk, while in fact it isn't, you have thereby used
your
right to free speech.

Stating something as if it were an undisputed fact is much riskier.

I am up-to-date with all legal ramifications of assisted suicide.
What you say is 100% correct, regarding *your* country.

But...

I am a citizen of Holland, and when in Holland, subject to the *Dutch*
laws.
Whe *just* got a new law (2 weeks old!) that makes it fully LEGAL to
kill someone who asks for it, if this person's suferring warrants it,
