Martijn the more I use the new Google Beta the more I like it.

You can view messages with some text OR by title only.

In title only threads with new messages tell you the last poster and
how many new in BOLD, it also tells you how many authors on a thread.

In the message title thread you see how many new messages and how many
authors on a thread

You can STAR certain topics and follow them on a page of starred topics
(or multiple pages as you star more and more).

Using the message text view you see "active older topics" in the right
hand column and it tells you how many new messages.

You can search and then sort by date or relevance.

It allows you to dig up really really old messages (except those
removed by authors or not archived).

It tells you when a new message is marked not for archive so that you
can archive it against the author's wishes (some newsreader submissions
come marked with "x no archive" but google warns you.

You can view messages chronologically or by message tree and see what
is responding to what or whom.

And some other cool features.
