The same 'logic' was used for going along with the Klempner study: the old
"you have to start somewhere" enabling cry (from quote below).

Done that. You've got a royal mess on your hands. Thank those responsible.
And then really really think about what you are told to do by those same
people in the future. If you think it is unwise and harmful, SPEAK UP;
otherwise you enable those who do this kind of stuff. Even if you can't
change what is going on, you have done your part in addressing your
legitimate concerns. Perhaps some will actually think before they rush off
to do whatever they are told by the 'leaders'.

At least I haven't heard the tiresome manipulative, "united we stand,
divided we fall" for a bit. Boy, united with stuff like this, you make a
much bigger thud when you hit the rocks at the bottom.
